Due to an increasing lack of health care professionals in the rural areas of Australia, the Government has develop a strategy in order to meet current needs and supply health care in rural and regional areas where the supply is low to very poor. Part from the $ 134.4 million package to improve workforce shortages, a new structure has also been developed which classifies the different remote areas. This will be the foundation for the introduction of a scaling system, where greater benefits will go to areas with greater needs. This means that health care professionals going to more remote areas also will get higher salaries and better benefits.
